Pic o/t Weekend (NOT!)

November 23, 2012

Well, this is spreading like a wildfire underground; It seems like rapper/anger management poster boy Chris Brown decided to sport the same sort of leather jacket I myself wore 24/7 as a teen. All the classic bands are there – The Exploited, D.R.I., Corrosion of Conformity‘s skull, one of my own personal faves Suicidal Tendencies etc. etc. Hardcore is hip baby! The kids are lapping it up like kittens at a bowl of cream! Makes me wonder when Sony is gonna gimme a call about Gå Vidare till Norrmalmstorg‘s EP Blästrad! having 24.000+ visitors so far on Bandcamp.

Well, the bands themselves have been reacting to this. Above shows Municipal Waste‘s reply on Twitter, but it seems the whole thing started with D.R.I.’s reply on their Facebook yesterday:

Thanks for the free publicity/advertising Chris brown,we guess, but you are still a fucking loser. Wonder how much he paid for the jacket….or if he even knows any of the bands!

And FYI I’m not kidding about GVtN’s statistics. How about giving the EP a spin here. Oh, and speaking of The Exploited, I played the shit out of this 7″ EP back in the 80s:

Out of Vogue

October 2, 2012

Well, Fullerton indie label Burger Records announced earlier in September they were teaming up with legendary Hardcore label Frontier Records to re-release tons of punk classics on tape. Yes, it’s kinda ironic that the format a lot of major labels in the 80s claimed were encouraging piracy and copyright infringements turned out to be the one that’s become the one preferred on account of transfers to digital being pretty hard (not impossible, just a damn headache only extremely nerdy collectors or hardcore idealists would put themselves through in order to upload and share.)

First up is The Middle ClassOut of Vogue debut 7″ EP (and according to some the first hardcore record ever released) with The Adolescents and Rikk Agnew coming later on, but Frontier’s roster included such greats as Redd Kross, Suicidal Tendencies, Christian Death, TSOL, the great Dangerhouse comps, Weirdos, Circle Jerks etc. etc. Check their page on Facebook for updates here. Speaking of the Middle Class:
