Aftermath Apocalypse Photography

April 24, 2013

Yes! Might have some kick-ass news coming soon – if nothing else a future post regarding the phenomena “synchronicity” – but up until then make sure you check out UK photographer Robert Boud‘s video project Aftermath Apocalypse Photography on YouTube. It’s pretty stark imagery but still oddly beautiful.

Oh man, these are some truly great photographs! Via Eva Halloween‘s great blog The Year of Halloween I was hepped to cosplay artist Malro-Doll‘s Corpse Bride photoshoot posted on eMorfes. A great amount of effort has been put into this, and everything from the costumes to the make up looks beautiful.

Seven photographs in total, all looking great. Check it out here and read Eva’s post here.

Doll Squad

December 7, 2011

American photographer Mariel Clayton explores the evil side of Barbie in her series The Oakville Ladies Presents: ‘The Gentlewomen’s Sociopathic Syllabary’. We’re talking some pretty gory Ed Gein-esque imagery, mostly of the crime scene variety and with an ironic twist on account of the world famed doll’s sense of glamour. When asked her reasons why she explains:

Because I hate Barbie. I intensely dislike the stereotype that the “ideal” female fits no current authentic female form. You can’t get to be Barbie without an ocean’s worth of peroxide, 27 plastic surgeries and a complete lack of intelligence, so it irritates me immensely that this is the toy of choice women give to their daughters to emulate. Behind the vacuous perpetual lipsticked-smile lurks the black heart of the true sociopath, just like in real life.

Some pretty graphic stuff and some pretty humorous. Check it out at her official website here. The Doll Squad is a pretty cool flick by trashmeister Ted V. Mikels by the way. Predating the TV-series Charlie’s Angels by a couple of years – Ted actually sued the producers but lost the case in court – it’s a pretty cool action flick, even though I prefer his Corpse Grinders way more.
