Charles Bronson

May 10, 2014

Here we go: I was recently asked by Doc Terror to contribute a mix for their Italian Horror Week in June, and instead of culling some choice cuts from my vinyl and CD collection – and this is where the workaholic in me shines through – I immediately suggested creating all-new Call Me Greenhorn tracks instead.

I’ve currently finished up roughly a dozen tracks, with some 3-4 demoed ideas waiting to be worked on, and decided to post a teaser taste on my SoundCloud to start promoting the release (that will be available on Amazon, Spotify, Bandcamp etc. later on). We’re talking a total of between 12-17 tracks and roughly 30 to 40 minutes of various horror/exploitation-inspired sounds. Check out Charles Bronson and get ready for June!

EDIT: My bad, the Italian Horror Week is in July, not June.

Pic o/t Day

The legendary brown sound.

Well, I am a true believer in trial-and-error, as theory only can go so far and nothing makes you get your gear together like a good mess up. And boy did I go to school today, ha ha ha. I’m not going near that damn thing ever again for the rest of my life, and in the rare occassion I would I’d approach it with extreme caution. Damn! If any of you audio geeks wanna know I can tell you that an FM Oscillator set on sinus waveform will turn a distorted bass into a “building cleanser.”

Anyway, after three great days of just good food and tons of sleep I woke up early feeling energized and rejuvenated and pretty much spent all day adding the finishing touches to the remix EP I’ve been working on for the last couple of weeks. I sent out some rough MP3s a couple of days ago, and now it’s just a matter of doing the final bit of tweaking and then I’m done. While on the subject:

Pic summing up the Weekend

December 9, 2012

All work and no play actually makes Jack pretty content.

So, a friend of mine told me recently that she found my blog and was amazed by the sheer output of it. “You’re so creative!” she mused and I replied with “Uh, actually, the more posts you see the less real work I’ve got to do at the moment.” And that’s true. Like this weekend I’ve been super busy working my butt off to finish up a couple of different mixes for an upcoming EP. And even though I really can’t give away much more info on the subject I can at least share that it’s pretty darn exciting doing audio work for someone else!

I’m pretty confident everything will be finished up some time this week, and after that I might be able to share some more light on it. It’s really not my decision to make. After that I’ve got some even more exciting work to do, but I really can’t share anything about that either – I’ll give you a hint: Hollywood – so apologies for the secrecy, but that’s just the way it’s gonna be for now. But you bet I’m happy and excited. Stay tuned…
