Well, excuse the excursion, but it’s time for me to get a bit political. Via Erwin Wagenhofer‘s documentary We Feed the World, Nestlé CEO Peter Brabeck opines for the privatization of the planet’s water supplies. It is not a human right, he adds, and apparently only “extremist charities” seems to think so. Oddly enough no one told him that the UN actually considers it to be a human right – but, hey, anything to make a buck, right?

Anyway, European organization European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI) is petitioning to “propose legislation implementing the human right to water and sanitation as recognised by the United Nations, and promoting the provision of water and sanitation as essential public services for all” via their Water is a Human Right campaign, and if you are a citizen of the European Community I am strongly advising you to sign it. 1,3 million has so far – I am one of them – and their goal is to have 1,5 million by the end of this week and 2 million come September.

Now, take your time to read up on the organization and their campaign here, and if you like me feel that access to clean water is a human right – again, even though the UN already made this perfectly clear! – do sign it. You need a passport number or similar ID as it is an official citizen’s petition. And share this information for God’s sake!
