R.I.P. Reg Presley

February 5, 2013

Oh man, getting up to call in sick I read the sad news via contactmusic.com that Reg Presley, lead singer of cult proto-punk band The Troggs passed away yesterday after battling lung cancer for roughly a year. Forever securing a place in the Rock ‘n’ Roll pantheon with their primitive 1966 überhit Wild Thing, the band stayed active way up until Reg was diagnosed in early 2012 and decided to retire from music altogether. His wife, daughter, and son were by his side at the passing.

I decided to go with their non-album (gee, I wonder why) Strange Movies from 1968 – a perfect example of the band’s naughty cheekiness (wanna comment on the definition of their band name being “someone who dwells in caves”? I mean, you don’t hafta be Freud here people!).

More information here. Rest in peace, Reggie!
