Desert Sessions

September 19, 2012

Well, I guess it’s an aquired taste for some, but I have pretty much enjoyed every installment of the Desert Sessions so far. A total of ten 10″ EPs has been released that culls the best that comes out of these group sessions, and if you’re unfamiliar with the concept it’s pretty much Joshua Homme of Queens of the Stone Age fame inviting musicians from all over to partake in very loose sessions where genre really doesn’t matter as much as true creativity. You’ll pretty much hear everything plus the damn kitchen sink here, and if you’re like me you’ll at least appreciate the sheer uniqueness of the project.

Recently I found all installments of the series on YouTube – the vinyl editions was collected in twos on CDs released by Man’s Ruin – and if you’re interested in just hearing something different (as well as the original versions of what later became songs by QotSA) give ’em a spin!
