Blank TV

October 28, 2011

Well, the video for Hang Out is up and running at Blank TV now. Pretty cool and we’re already noticing that a lot more people are checking out the band both at Bandcamp and Facebook. Nice! Let’s hope it results in us finding a label willing to put out a tour 7″ as well as more fans.

Just received the link for the Megawatts show that aired two days ago and you can download it here.

More Airplay

October 27, 2011

Well, this is getting pretty damn exciting to be honest! US channel Blank TV – “Dangerous music for dangerous people!” – loved the new video I made for Hang Out, and they’re adding it to their playlist today! A great site focusing on all things punk (and hardcore, ska, garage etc.) they’re the biggest, independent video channel on the ‘Net and they sure as hell don’t approve of censorship! Check out their official site here and they’re constantly streaming on YouTube here.

Second, there’s been more airplay on the Megawatts Radio Show in France I’m glad to say. Don’t have the download link yet – just received a heads up from Ross – but apparently they aired Gimme a Call. I’ll add the link during the day. Again, our Halloween video:

And the first one:

New Artwork!

October 21, 2011

Whoof! Talk about working on the fly! My buddy Stefan that runs the No Balls Records label down in Germany sent me an e-mail, asking me to do some artwork for an upcoming pic-disc 7″. Due to be released in time for Halloween! Wow! Apparently, some snafu happened between him and the original graphic designer, I dunno, the whole thing soured and now he had everything mastered and ready to go at the pressing plant but no art! What to do? Well, you call in the cavalry, that’s what you do, he he he. Anyway, this is what I came up with and I am pretty satisfied with the results considering the time restraints. He loved it, so I guess everybody’s happy.

New Video!

October 20, 2011

Well, Halloween is just ’round the corner so I edited together a lil’ something on that subject for the second song off Cymatics‘ demos. It took a little while ’cause I edited the intro and outro parts separately, and added them to the final edit of the music video itself. I used footage from a public domain episode of the Milton the Monster cartoon and usually, when you edit film the ratio between raw material to finished product is at least 1:3 (example; if you’re doing a 3 minute video you need at least 9 minutes of raw material!), but for this I had less than sixty seconds worth! It’s cool though. Reminds me of those old Hanna-Barbera cartoons, that always relied on heavy reusage of clips. I’m happy with the end results but sure ain’t doin’ that again any time soon!

Anyway, check out Hang Out and don’t forget to do the Monster Mash with that special ghoulfriend or boyfiend while doing it! As always, you can check out all five demo tracks on our Bandcamp site here.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Radio 2!

October 17, 2011

Well, I’m glad to say the Cymatics’ promos are getting around and the demos been seeing some airplay lately, in France actually, which is pretty cool. And to make it even sweeter, the programs are available for downloads so check them out! First off we have the Megawatts Radio Show that aired on Thursday last week (check it out here), and second we have the Le Trafalgar that aired the following day (download here). We’re excited as hell and hope for more airplay in the near future!

Working on a new, Halloween-themed video right now and it’ll premiere pretty soon. ‘Til then here’s the Ramones classic video:

More Promos

October 12, 2011

Well, Ross made this flyer for our French booking agency, but the logo was designed by me. Again trying to base it on the subject matter. Looks neat!

New Artwork!

October 11, 2011

Well, it’s about 95% finished now, and Dead by Mono Records are already pushing the release so I thought it was time to share it. Yep, I’m doing the art for the UK label’s second No Way Out! compilation CD, once again collecting twenty tracks from up-and-coming bands in the garage/surf-scene. I don’t know when it’ll be released but I’ll make sure to post something later on as it happens.

October 10, 2011

Well, I don’t think Brian really needs any further introduction. Active in the US hardcore scene since the 80’s, he’s made a name for himself in the mainstream doing artwork for Metallica among others. Working with pen and ink his works are amazingly detailed and even though he’s not that prolific compared to other artists, they are always mindblowing and a treat to see when they hit the public eye!

Now, being a somewhat private guy, I still was kinda dumbfounded when I didn’t find any official website whatsoever, but there’s a great fansite showcasing his art. Check it out here.

October 6, 2011

Well, things are quite busy in Camp Cymatic right now! Both me and Ross are writing new songs like crazy – actually, I think we’re halfway through our second album materialwise now! – and all three of us are doing the promo thingy, getting in touch with labels, magazines and radio stations right now in order to promote the band. The images show the first batch of promo CD’s that are in the mail as I’m writing this, so let’s hope it’ll create some interest!

As I stated before, you can listen to our five demo tracks online on our Bandcamp site, so check it out here!

Winston Smith!

October 5, 2011

New link added today; Winston Smith! A bit older than the rest of the “punk artists” he was active way earlier than the first generation of punkers back in the seventies, but received worldwide recognition when he teamed up with Dead Kennedys – creating all their art for records and flyers etc. Although our styles totally differ, he’s the guy that inspired me to manipulate all kinds of imagery in order to create something new.

Still active he’s done tons of record sleeves for Green Day, Alternative Tentacles Records, and various magazines so check out his official homepage!
