Roman Klonek

July 28, 2011

Polish poster artist Roman Klonek makes pretty cool poster designs, working exclusively with woodcuts. Active since the 90’s his works are a nice blend of naive children’s cartoons and classic propaganda art. Check out his official website for more samples.

Commercial

July 27, 2011

UK label Dead by Mono recently released the promo video for their No Way Out! compilation CD, looking pretty good with some choice snippets from the artwork I made. It’s making its rounds on the WWW right now, so check it out and please share on your blog, Facebook etc!

The label has good distribution worldwide, but you can secure your copy of the CD via their official website here.

Megachurch

July 26, 2011

The new issue of CRKO Magazine is out featuring among other things my interview with brilliant Cleveland stoner outfit Megachurch! As always Bernd has crammed it full with info and the main article with focus on Canadian music is just a mammoth piece that’ll exhaust you! But being a book reader, that’s exactly what I like.

About Megachurch, all I can say is they are a truly unique band that play really great and interesting instrumental music and you should definitely check them out! Debuting with the six song S/T EP last year (featuring the above track) they just released their full length Megachurch 2: The Final Judgement available as a limited-edition vinyl 12″, CD and digital download on Bandcamp. Eight songs – check it out here!

Europeans can order CRKO Magazine through P Trash Records here. Don’t have any info about distributors in the US.

Vindictive

July 26, 2011

Now, this is a pretty damn cool move by a band; US pop-punkers The Vindictives are now making their entire discography available as a free download! Their eight albums (including their entire cover of The Ramones album Leave Home!) are up for grabs as high quality MP3’s ripped at 192 kbps – all you gotta do is sign up – so check out their official website here.

Kodak Moment

It’s pretty cool walking into a club seeing your own artwork! The Bulemics‘ 2010 European Tour poster found at the Japan Rock Club in Villa Real, Spain on April 17th 2011 while on tour with Dumbell.

OFF!

July 25, 2011

Well, I doubt anyone within the underground community missed out on these guys, but I’ll post this anyway simply because they rock. Keith Morris (ex-Black Flag, Circle Jerks etc.) teamed up with members from Rocket From the Crypt, The Burning Brides and Redd Kross to form OFF! – a band that to put it simple decided to ignore what happened with Punk Rock since 1981 and ended up with something that weirdly enough sounds fresh in 2011! Their first full length (entitled First Four EP’s) is hands down an amazing release, offering sixteen classic early HC blasts in less than twenty minutes. There’s been rave reviews all over the place but to add my own two cents; this is what the Circle Jerks second album could’ve sounded like!

The album can be found pretty much all over from online shops – even on Amazon – and they’re touring Europe – including Sweden! – this fall so make sure to check them out! And in case you need a incentive, check out the clip of their show at House of Vans here. My pal Troy who runs the Bigfoot Diaries blog recently interviewed Keith, so check it out here.

CRKO

July 22, 2011

Some new artwork for the upcoming issue of CRKO Magazine!  I tried to keep it simple with as few colors as possible. The theme was Canada – the issue comes with the second part of a huge special on Canadian music – so I did go with the clichéd imagery a lot of us might have about the country. The chief-editor Bernd runs a blog for both the magazine and his label Timmeheiehumme Records so check it out here.

Speaking of which, this is one of my All Time Faves when it comes to classic ‘Nookie punk rock! The Viletones’ Screaming Fist is one of the best Canadian seven inchers from the 70’s and one I’m proud to say has a special place in my record collection (and it has been bootlegged and is available at a low price so check it out!):

New Video

July 22, 2011

Well, my “demo recordings” turned out better than expected, so I assembled a cute video for the track Gimme a Call using footage from the 1935 public domain cartoon Dancing on the Moon. The eight song EP (I’m getting back into the studio in September to add four more tracks in order to make it a full length) is available online on my Bandcamp so check it out here.

Although not new, the two tracks from the last recording from Svarta Marias first line-up (Blinkar Grå) has been remixed and remastered and is available here. The videos are same as the old versions with newer (and improved!) sound.
